There is nothing I love more than the art of perfect imperfection.  I explore it.  I embrace it.  I have ultimately come to adore it.

Soldering is a perfect science.  Where metal meets metal in a most beautiful way.  Beginning with perfectly clean metal is the key.  The second, working with the right amount of heat and solder to make the two come together, yes - perfectly.

I will show you how I design my perfectly imperfect, or rustic bezels, using wire, metal, flux & solder, and as an option, metal stamps and texture hammers.

Join me in The Rustic Bezel.  Let’s make beautiful rustic bezels together.  You’ll love my tips and tricks to make your rustic bezel piece, perfectly imperfect too.

* How to Determine Bezel Height

In order to obtain the correct height measurement for your bezel, determine where the cab starts to curve into the dome.  Be sure the bezel is high enough to securely hold your stone without obscuring the stones beauty. Choose a bezel height that goes just past the point where the cab starts to curve into the dome.  Place the cab face up on a level surface.  Stand a ruler next to the cab and use the measurement that is just past the curve's starting point.  Only one or two millimeters past the start of the curve are needed to secure your stone.  Most times it is easy to see where the curve starts.  This is the best way to measure for bezel height because cabs are domed in many different ways.
